Building global friendships through cricket

Ambassador Makgetla of South Africa in Greece handing over the cup to the Champion Captain of the Johannesburg Cricket Club

Schools from South Africa, India, Spain and Bulgaria met on the beautiful island of Corfu to contest the 5th international schools tournament hosted by the Greek Cricket Federation from 20-25 April 2015. This annual competition aims to establish international friendships, celebrate the spirit of cricket and serve as a catalyst for the development of the game and future tourism exchanges.

Ambassador Makgetla visited the island of Corfu to assist and support the two South African cricket teams, Saheti and Joburg Cricket Club. Both teams played with heart and soul.  As a result, the Johannesburg Cricket Club boys once again lifted the Cup in Greece. Ambassador Makgetla was given the honours to address the groups and handed over the cup to the Champion Captain. The Johannesburg Cricket Club has now won the competition, a highly publicised event, twice in three years.
