High Commissioner Ruchi Ghanashyam of India to South Africa


Joseph Kwela and Salome Kweyama, two South Africans amongst 22, who had participated in the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program shared their experiences on the occasion of 50 years of ITEC.

High Commissioner Ruchi Ghanashyam of India to South Africa in her welcoming remarks explained that ITEC Day is celebrated every year to facilitate scholars who have participated in the fully-funded training programmes offered each year by the Indian Government to about 160 countries including South Africa and Lesotho.

The program included cultural items and a rendition of ‘Asimbonanga’ a song by Jonny Clegg paying tribute to Nelson Mandela, Steve Biko, Victoria Mxenge and Niel Aggett.
