Southern Africa participates in Expo-Pakistan at Karachi

A 13 member strong business delegation from South African will participate in the 9th edition of Expo-Pakistan, which is scheduled to take place at Karachi Expo Centre from 26 Feb- 01March, 2015. Commercial Secretary Qamar Zaman will accompany the delegation that comprises businessmen hailing from different sectors including textiles, furniture, cement, rice, cooking oil, brush ware, leather and agriculture products. For the first time, one businessman from Botswana is also participating in the Mega event.

The delegation is expected to call on Honourable Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan, Minister of Commerce and Mr. Muhammad Shehzad Arbab, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, high officials of TDAP and other leading dignitaries during the visit. A large number of South African delegates are visiting Pakistan for the first time and it is expected that their maiden visit will open new avenues of business for them.

Expo Pakistan is the biggest trade fair in Pakistan, showcasing the largest collection of Pakistan’s export merchandise and services. Foreign exhibitors also use this platform to launch their own products. Held annually, the four days Expo Pakistan has become the primary source point for a large number of businesses worldwide, giving them a head start on the buying and ordering for coming seasons. Textile, leather, surgical and pharmaceutical, agriculture machinery , food and ingredients, engineering, auto parts, sports goods, services, mineral and metals, home décor, gems and jewellery etc are at display in the 9th edition of the Expo Pakistan.

Pakistan High Commission in collaboration with Trade Development of Pakistan has made all possible efforts to make the visit of the South African delegation fruitful and productive. In this regard, their details and business profiles have been shared with the exhibitors of the Expo Pakistan. In addition, B2B meetings with those businessmen are also being arranged, who are not exhibiting in the Expo Pakistan. In addition, visits to Chambers of Commerce and Industry like Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, trade association of the relevant sectors are also being worked out.
