Fourth Session of the Joint Commission between Pakistan and South Africa

The Fourth Session of the Joint Commission between Pakistan and South Africa was held in Pretoria at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) on 19-20 November, 2014. The Pakistan side was led by Additional Secretary (ME&A) Mr. Amjad Hussain B. Sial while the South African side was headed by Dr. Anil Sooklal, Deputy Director General, DIRCO.

Underscoring the importance of having high level contacts between the two countries, to further strengthen ties, the two sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations and discussed possibilities of increasing cooperation in political, economic, trade, science and technology, culture, education, consular and community matters.

The Joint Commission expressed satisfaction at the progress made in the finalization of a number of bilateral agreements and MoUs and agreed to explore additional avenues of bilateral cooperation. Both sides also agreed to further increase trade and investment relations for the wellbeing of people of both the countries.

The two sides also shared views on the emerging regional and international situation and discussed ways and means of bringing peace and stability in South Asia and Sub Saharan Africa.

Both sides decided to hold the 5th Session of the Joint Commission in Islamabad in 2016 at mutually convenient dates.
