French companies are ready to participate in the third South Africa Investment Conference (SAIC) and the country’s economic recovery plan amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will host the third SAIC on Tuesday, 17 and Wednesday, 18 November 2020. Due to the global impact of COVID-19, this year’s conference takes place in a completely different and even more challenging environment than last year.

During a three-day visit to South Africa earlier this month, French Foreign Trade Minister Franck Riester confirmed French commitments to the tune of 20 billion rand, announced last year for the next 5 years, in the energy, construction, agriculture and service sectors. We remain on track when it comes to delivering on these pledges.

South African authorities recently announced massive economic recovery efforts, to finance projects in the fields of infrastructure and sustainable development. French companies also stand ready to participate in this recovery plan to help rebuild the South African economy.

Around 400 French companies are present in South Africa, from highly internationalised groups to SMEs, and they employ directly around 65000 people in SA.
